Work Experience at the Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

Mandurah Wildlife - Volunteering to gain work experience
Leila Hunt - Gaining work experience as volunteer

Volunteer, Leila Hunt joined the Mandurah Wildlife Centre in February 2024, seeking work experience to compliment the online tertiary course she had undertaken in Animal Care.

She is hoping that the work experience plus a tertiary qualification will help her find employment in either a Veterinary Clinic or a Wildlife Rehab Centre.

The Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre currently provides work experience opportunities to high schools and practicums for veterinary science students from Murdoch University. This in an area the Centre will seek to grow as part of its ambitious Ten-Year-Plan.

On a rather soggy morning when I met Leila she was emerging from an aviary and little damp but happy after feeding a New Holland Honey Eater that had been mauled by a cat. She says its feathers have re-grown and hopefully it will soon be released to the wild.

Help us treat and release all wounded and sick animals that are brought to our Intensive Care every day.

A monthly $10 donation goes a long way towards the rehabilitation of little creatures like "Spunk the Dove".
